Gulshan attackers' blood samples collected for testing

20 July,2016

RTNN News Desk: Doctors have collected blood and hair samples of Gulshan attackers to find out if they took any drug before carrying out the attack at Holey Artisan Bakery on July 1.

The blood and hair samples of the six attackers were collected from Combined Military Hospital (CMH) by doctors of Dhaka Medical College's Forensic Department on Wednesday afternoon.

Sohel Mahmud, assistant professor of the forensic department, told the media: “Counter-Terrorism and Transnational Crimes unit of the DMP had sought permission from a court to conduct dope tests of the attackers.”

“The court gave its order in favour of the unit.”

He said they went to CMH on Tuesday and tried to collect the samples twice but failed as the bodies were frozen.

Sources said the unit might take help from the FBI for the test.

On July 16, Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia said they might take help from friendly nations with technical matters of the attack.

The hostage situation resulted in 20 people, mostly foreign nationals, being brutally killed by the terrorists.
