Bangladesh reach U19 World Cup quarter-finals

31 January,2016

RTNN News Desk: Bangladesh Under-19 Cricket Team have reached the quarter-finals of the ICC Under-19 World Cup Cricket eliminating Scotland by 114 runs in their 2nd Group A match.

The match began at 9am on Sunday at Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Stadium in Cox's Bazar.

Middle-order batsman Najmul Hossain Shanto made a record-breaking unbeaten 113 runs that led the Tigers to win the match. Now Shanto is the only middle-order batsman in Youth ODIs to enter the super exclusive 1700-run club.

Earlier in the day after losing the toss, the hosts were sent in to bat first. Bangladesh Under-19s scored 256 runs losing 6 wickets in 50 overs.

In reply, Scotland never seemed to be in a good shape to scale down 256 because of their unhealthy run-rate.

Pacer Mohammad Saifuddin bagged three wickets conceding just 17 runs in 7.2 overs. Shawon, Miraz, Ariful were also among the wicket-takers.

Scotland lost all wickets for 142 runs in 47.2 overs.
